When I was asked by Mike Gott of BGO Records to write some liner notes on this long-awaited re-release of the Mick Abrahams album, I was frankly shocked as Mike should know that I am not allowed to have any sharp objects whatsoever, (only foam and fluffy cushions and the like) especially not pens and things with points on them. However, owing to the Head Warden's kindess and a massive dose of extra medication, I am now able to give the publc an insight into this little gem of art (most reasonably priced too!) created back in the good old 70's. The line-up is: Walt Monaghan - Bass, vocals, 2 crates of a lager a night, violent behaviour and vomiting. Bob Sargeant - Keyboards, guitar, vocals, moaning, worrying and borrowing money. Ritchie Dharma - Drums, percussion, shoplifting and pornography collecting Myself - Guitar, slide, swings, roundabouts and vocals This album was recorded with the maximum of fuss, disorganisation and overspending and general mucking around at Air London Studios in Oxford Street, London. It was produced by Chris Thomas who I fondly remember to be a very nice man with false testicles and a charming smile. There is no truth in the rumour that anything of an obscene nature ever took place in the studio toilets, not at all, no, definitely not. Well, alright - it did once, and then we found the control room was more comfortable! Anyway - here are the tracks: 1. Greyhound Bus - a song about the urgent need for the transportation of retired racing dogs. 2. Awake - I wrote this song whilst I was asleep. 3. Winds of Change - a song directed at Bob who was the official band toilet at the time, and who used to send his underwear to Rentokil for cleaning. 4. Why Do You Do Me This Way - I have since experimented with other positions and have not had to wear the back support and groin warmers since. 5. Big Queen - nice song about a journey on one and no I'm not! 6. Not To Rearrange - co-written with Bob who I believe once appeared on the centre-fold of Embalmers Monthly. 7. Seasons - a song about my spice rack and my pet light bulb, Anthony. Thank you for buying this album and here are some useful tips: 1. The photos on the cover also double as a safetly device for young children, if placed on the mntlepiece, the kids won't go near the fire. 2. Remember that if you and at least 50 of your friends do not buy the next album your bums will fall off and you will be forced to share a room for 2 years with the Pet Shop Boys! Ta ta for now! Mick Abrahams (September 1992) P.S. Mike Gott made me write these silly liner notes and the bastard still hasn't paid me the £50 he promised. P.P.S. It wasn't any of us that mummified Doug Darcy of Chrysalis Records with gaffer tape and left him on the traffic island at Oxford Circus one lunchtime. It was someone else that was always doing things like that and blaming us for it!
